Lyrics Matt McAndrew – The City
Text:
The city is quick, some parts are cruel
And pretty people walk all around my school
The city looks like New York did in ’63
Every sight I see is like a fairytale to me
The city wouldn’t lock my mama’s home
Even when it rains I sit alone
And I try to write myself a proper poem
But when the city gets on there’ll be
Plenty of places to roam
The city’s scared, the city’s white
At night they shine these swirlin’ lights
The city is black and sometimes it gets blue
But the city just keeps on goin’ so I’ll keep on too
The city told maybe go find a friend
And watch the way that our colors blend
To bid goodbye to the past though it’s not the end
But the city don’t care if I ever see you again
