From dressing myself in some masquerade gown
And wearing this frock in my frolicking town

If I am earnest
We’re not meant to be

I am a clown

My cheeks are bright red, I am a bird
Hyenaic laughter you’ve probably heard
Life is a joke and I’m glad I’m around
To be in the punchline and to hear the sound
Of some people laughing, I am a clown
So why do I want those who want me to frown?
